About Us
Ocala Food Forest is an innovative and transformative project based in Ocala, Florida, situated within USDA Planting Zones 8b and 9a. Established in late summer 2020, the nearly two-acre site is dedicated to fostering a vibrant ecosystem that supports humans, wildlife, and the environment through the principles of permaculture.
Our Mission and Vision
Mission: The primary mission of Ocala Food Forest is to champion permaculture as a sustainable complement to traditional agriculture. By replicating natural ecosystems, the project aims to create an abundant source of food while enhancing environmental health. To teach and provide information on how to successfully start your own project, no matter the size or the budget, anyone can do this.
Vision: Ocala Food Forest envisions a world where food independence is a common practice, and communities are empowered to grow their own food sustainably. The project aims to expand its educational offerings and plant nursery to support a broader audience, fostering a community that values sustainability and ecological stewardship.
